Back Up WordPress to OneDrive: Free, to Your Own Cloud

Back up your entire WordPress site, database and files, straight to your own Microsoft OneDrive. You already have OneDrive (every Microsoft account comes with 5 GB free), so your backups live in storage you already control, not on someone else’s servers. Here’s how it works and how to get started for free.

Why back up to your own OneDrive?

No second subscription. Your backups go to storage you already have. There’s no separate backup service to pay for.

Your data stays yours. The plugin talks only to Microsoft, through your own Azure app registration. Nothing is ever sent to us. We never see your backups or your Microsoft credentials.

It keeps working even if your license lapses. The free edition is a complete backup product. If a paid license lapses, it quietly drops back to the free feature set instead of switching off. Backup software that stops backing up because a card expired is the worst possible outcome, so ours doesn’t do that.

How it works

Bodholdt Backup for OneDrive uses the Microsoft Graph API through your own Azure app registration. That’s a free setup you only do once, and the plugin walks you through every step. From there it:

  • Runs full or incremental backups. Incremental backups only upload the files that changed, so daily backups stay small and fast.
  • Uploads in resumable chunks, so large sites don’t choke on a single failed request.
  • Restores any backup in one click, and takes an automatic safety snapshot first.
  • Includes a standalone migration installer, so you can restore a backup onto a completely different server.
  • Backs up full multisite networks and restores them to the same layout.
  • Keeps unlimited retention on every tier, including free.
  • Emails you a report after every run, with plain language diagnosis if something fails.

Set it up in a few minutes

  1. Install and activate the plugin.
  2. Follow the guide inside the plugin to create a free Azure app registration. It takes about five minutes, and all you need is a Microsoft account. No paid subscription.
  3. Paste your Client ID and Secret, authorize OneDrive access, and pick a schedule.
  4. Click Start Backup Now. Your first backup lands in your own OneDrive.

Try it free

The free Lite edition backs up and restores to your own OneDrive with no license key and no time limit. When you want selective restore (choose exactly what to restore), licensing for multiple sites, or Slack and Discord alerts, the Solo tier is $29/yr. The price you pay is the price you renew at.
