Terms of Service

Effective: May 13, 2026 Last updated: June 3, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms“) govern your purchase and use of WordPress plugins and related services from Bodholdt Labs. By buying or using anything we offer, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t, please don’t buy or use our products.

1. Who you’re doing business with

Bodholdt Labs is operated as a sole proprietorship by Kyle Bodholdt in California, United States. When we say “we,” “us,” or “Bodholdt Labs,” we mean Kyle Bodholdt d/b/a Bodholdt Labs. When we say “you,” we mean the person or organization that purchases or uses our products.

You can reach us at [email protected].

2. The products

Bodholdt Labs sells WordPress plugins and, over time, may add other software products (Unity plugins, support tools, etc.). Current products include Bodholdt Backup for Google Drive, Bodholdt Backup for OneDrive, the Backup Bundle, Bodholdt Licensing, and Bodholdt Tickets — a license-aware support desk with an optional AI co-pilot. Bodholdt Contact, a contact-form widget, is offered free on WordPress.org. Bodholdt Tickets’s optional AI co-pilot requires your own Anthropic API key; any data you choose to send to Anthropic through it is governed by Anthropic’s terms.

Each plugin is licensed under the GNU General Public License v2 or later (GPLv2+) — the same license WordPress itself uses. That means you may modify and redistribute the plugin code under the same terms. What you cannot do is redistribute it under our name or use our trademarks; see Section 9.

3. Buying a plugin

What you’re buying

A purchase entitles you to:

  • The plugin software, delivered as a .zip file.
  • A license key that activates the plugin on the number of sites your tier allows (Solo = 1 site, Pro = 5 sites, Agency = unlimited).
  • Updates for as long as your subscription is active, or forever if you bought a lifetime license. “Updates” means bug fixes, security patches, compatibility updates for new WordPress / PHP versions, and any feature improvements we ship to that plugin.
  • Support. If you bought an annual or monthly plan, you get email support for as long as your plan is active (priority on the top tier of each product). If you bought a lifetime license, your purchase includes a bucket of support credits that never expire — see “Lifetime support credits” below. Free-tier (WordPress.org) users get community support via the plugin forum.

Subscriptions and billing

Annual and monthly plans renew automatically on the same day each billing period. You can cancel at any time from your customer portal at /manage-subscription/. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period — you keep access until then. We don’t refund partial periods on cancellation.

Lifetime plans are charged once. “Lifetime” means the lifetime of the product — if we ever discontinue a plugin (announced at least 12 months in advance), lifetime customers get a free license for the closest equivalent successor product.

Lifetime support credits

Because a lifetime license has no recurring payment to attach support to, every lifetime purchase includes a one-time grant of non-expiring support credits, applied to your account automatically at checkout: 15 credits for a 1-site license, 50 for a 5-site license, and 150 for a 25-site license. One credit covers one support request — a full back-and-forth on a single issue. Credits never expire, and any credits you are granted or buy are added to your existing balance, never overwritten or removed. Pre-sales questions, feature requests, bug reports, and billing questions are always free and never use a credit. If you run low, you can top up at any time from your customer portal. This policy applies to every Bodholdt Labs product that offers a lifetime license.

Prices are listed in U.S. dollars. We use Stripe Tax to calculate and collect any sales tax, VAT, or GST that applies based on your billing country.

Refunds

Every purchase comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. To request a refund, open a ticket on our Support page using the email you bought with. We aim to process refunds within five business days.

After day 14, refunds are at our discretion and are not guaranteed.

Upgrading and downgrading

You can upgrade your tier mid-cycle. Stripe pro-rates the difference and charges you only for the unused portion of the new tier. Lifetime-to-lifetime upgrades pay the price difference.

You can downgrade at renewal by selecting a lower tier when your license is up. We don’t refund the difference for mid-cycle downgrades.

4. Your account and license keys

You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials and license keys confidential. If you suspect your account or a license key has been compromised, email us and we’ll regenerate the affected keys.

License keys are tied to a specific email address. If you change your email, update it in your account or email us.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use our products for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Reverse-engineer our license server, attempt to spoof license validations, or share license keys with unauthorized parties.
  • Use the plugins to back up, restore, or transmit content you don’t have the legal right to handle (copyright infringement, stolen data, content that violates someone else’s privacy, etc.).
  • Use our products to attack, infringe on, or harass any third party.
  • Resell our products under your own name or rebrand them without a separate written agreement.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these rules. We’ll always tell you why.

6. Updates, support, and end-of-life

We commit to:

  • Compatibility: every plugin supports the two most recent major WordPress releases and the two most recent stable PHP versions.
  • Security: confirmed critical security vulnerabilities are prioritized above other work and patched as quickly as possible.
  • Support: email support while your subscription is active (priority on the top tier), measured from the time you open a ticket on our Support page to the time you receive a real (human) reply. Lifetime licenses are supported through the non-expiring support credits included with purchase (Section 3).

If we ever decide to discontinue a plugin, we’ll announce it at least 12 months in advance and continue shipping security updates for that entire 12 months. Lifetime customers receive a free transfer to the successor product, as noted above.

7. Disclaimers

Our products are provided “as is” and “as available.” While we work hard to make them reliable, we make no warranty that:

  • They will be uninterrupted or error-free.
  • They will meet any specific business requirements you have.
  • Any backups they create will always succeed, or that backups can always be restored to the state you expect.

Important: WordPress backup plugins (ours and everyone else’s) are one part of a backup strategy, not the whole strategy. We strongly recommend you also keep an off-server backup (downloaded to your laptop, stored in cold storage, etc.) and that you periodically test that you can actually restore from your backups. We are not liable for data loss when a backup, restore, or migration does not work as expected.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or our products is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, or cost of substitute goods or services — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for consequential damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest extent allowed by law.

9. Intellectual property

The plugin code is licensed to you under GPLv2+. You may copy, modify, and redistribute it under the same license.

The Bodholdt Labs name, logo, and brand assets are not covered by the GPL. You may not use them to identify your own products or services, or in a way that suggests endorsement, without our written permission. If you want to write a review, comparison, or honest mention of our products, you’re welcome to — that’s fair use.

User-contributed content (support requests, testimonials you give us permission to use, etc.) remains your property. By submitting it to us, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use it in connection with our business, subject to our Privacy Policy.

10. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Bodholdt Labs against any claim, damage, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from (a) your use of our products in violation of these Terms, (b) content you back up, restore, or transmit using our products that infringes someone else’s rights, or (c) your violation of any law or regulation.

11. Term and termination

These Terms apply for as long as you use our products. You can stop using them at any time and cancel from your account. We can suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, with notice unless the violation is so severe that immediate action is required (e.g., active attack on our infrastructure).

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (Sections 7–13) survive termination.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.

For any dispute that arises from or relates to these Terms, the parties first agree to attempt informal resolution by email for at least 30 days. If that doesn’t resolve the dispute, the parties agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Placer County, California, and waive any objection to that venue.

If you’re a consumer resident in the EU/UK, nothing in these Terms removes your statutory consumer rights, and you may bring legal action in the courts of the country where you are habitually resident, in addition to the California courts.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the business grows. When we make a material change, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top, post the new version at this URL, and (where the change is significant) email customers. Continued use of our products after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any plan-specific addendum, are the entire agreement between you and Bodholdt Labs on this subject and supersede any prior agreements.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign your account or license without our consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a sale of substantially all our business.
  • Notices. Notices to you may be sent to the email address associated with your account. Notices to us should be sent to [email protected].
